Great River town and travel up and down the Mississippi River to the little towns around Alton. Go to Fast Eddies for lunch.

I have been visiting Alton for the last several years and it is just such a quaint, beautiful little city with so much charm. I go to watch the Eagles every year. The lock and dam system that they have is amazing. THe tour is well worth the time. THe Lodge is spectacular. And Fast Eddies... Well what can I say but AMAZING...

Great food, fun, history and beauty. Bicyclists paradise, bird watchers dream, adjacent to St. Louis attractions, super value. Great place to raise a family. Riverview Park is amazing at sunset.

The history behind Alton is truly amazing. The tallest man in all of history lived in Alton. Alton held the last Lincoln-Douglas Debate. Alton is home to Fast Eddies, one of the best bars in America. Also, if one travels the Great River Road, having the Mississippi River on one side and mountainous bluffs on the other, to Grafton, he/she can enjoy a wine and touristy mecca.
