I love Manhattan for the fact that there are so many things to do and the city itself is beautiful. I love the fact that there is something to do for every age. There is the football/basketball games, Aggieville, the pools and parks, volleyball/basketball/tennis courts, camping, fishing, water sports, anything you can imagine to do here. It's not a big city but not a little one either. It's just the right size. It has a variety of restaurants and stores but still has that small town/homey feel. I grew up in this amazing town and can't wait until my husband and I can move back.

We moved to Manhattan from northern California eight years ago with our then 5-year old daughter. We cannot imagine a nicer environment to raise a child than Manhattan, KS. Our daughter is proud to call Manhattan her hometown - she hopes to convince her cousins to move out here too!

If you are making the trek along Interstate 70 through Kansas you should definitely veer off of I-70 and visit the wonderful town of Manhattan. The city itself is roughly 7 miles off the main interstate and easily accessibly via the 4 lane divided Coach Bill Snyder Highway. Manhattan a.k.a. "The Little Apple" is located in the very heart of Kansas' scenic Flint Hills. Manhattan is probably best known for as the home of Kansas State University and when school is in session the city is bustling with activity. There are a few not to be missed parts of the city; Aggieville, downtown and Tuttle Creek Reservoir. Aggieville is across the street from the KSU campus and is the center of college life. Eating, drinking, and shopping are all popular with students and alumni. On a football game day get there early and stay late. The refurbished downtown provides many smaller eateries and shops as well as the cities only enclosed shopping mall. If you love the outdoors head for Tuttle Creek Reservoir where hiking, boating, fishing and camping are all available. Adding to an already visit worthy lineup, this year the cities newest attraction opened up. The Flint Hills Discovery Center opened on April 14, 2012. It provides a great learning experience for young and old alike. It is a very hands on and interactive display of the history, ecology, geography and geology of Kansas' Flint Hills. Hotels are ample so i would definitely make it a two day trip to enjoy the most of this wonderful city.

I have lived in Manhattan for over 20 years. This is the home of the Kansas State Wildcats! This location is awesome for the selection of food, people, and activities. You get a great mixture of college students, townies, and army folk. This brings thriving businesses and a great college town.

Aggieville is full of places to eat that would satisfy the pickiest of eaters. My favorite is the Hibachi Hut. The best authentic cajun food north of Louisiana!
