PlayhouseSquare, in downtown Cleveland, is the “world’s largest theater restoration project,” and the country’s largest performing arts center outside New York City (eclipsed only by Lincoln Center). It’s also Northeast Ohio’s home for touring Broadway shows, concerts, comedy, opera, dance and children’s programming - drawing more than one million visitors annually.
Five beautifully restored theaters built in the 1920‘s - and nine performance spaces in all - host opera, dance, concerts, an impressive Broadway Series and the Great Lakes Theater Festival. Check the website for free monthly theater tours - typically offered 10 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. on the first Saturday morning of the month.
PlayhouseSquare also has become a national leader in arts education, offering thousands of events, workshops, classes and more to the public as well as a nationally-recognized program that enables school children to see shows.
