Big Lake State Park

Description

The 625-acre, natural Big Lake was formed by an oxbow loop carved ages ago by the Missouri River. Surrounded by bottomland farms that border the river, this 407-acre park provides a scenic spot for fishing, swimming, bird-watching, boating, and picnicking. It also lies along a major migratory flyway. The modern motel overlooking the lake offers a private reception area, dining room, swimming pool open Memorial Day through Labor Day, and comfortable overnight lodging. The park has camping facilities (hookups, showers) and modern cabins with kitchens. Cabin reservations are required; the campsites accept reservations, too. A state fishing license is required and sold in the park. Handicapped-accessible facilities available. Pets: Leashed pets are permitted in park and campground. No pets are permitted in cabins or motel. Reservations and fees:Missouri has a central telephone number for all state parks: 877-422-6766. For those campgrounds accepting reservations, there is a nonrefundable fee for each reservation made.
