Big Timbers Museum

Description

The Big Timbers Museum displays Indian relics such as arrowheads, war clubs, beads, stone tools, and bows and arrows. There are also cowboy saddles, clothing, and gear and pioneer fashions, furniture, firearms and antique farm implements at the museum. Their transportation museum has a great variety of carriages, wagons and other forms of Santa Fe Trail transportation. The Santa Fe Trail runs through Lamar at the location of Big Timbers, once a 25-mile-long grove of huge cottonwood trees which grew along the banks of the Arkansas River.
