Bridal Cave and Thunder Mountain Park

Description

Discovered by the Osage Indians in the 1800s, this picturesque cave has more onyx formations than any other known cave. Park interpreters guide groups of spelunkers through rooms of stalactites, stalagmites, cave popcorn, and cave grapes, and recount the legend of the Indian wedding that took place in stalactite-adorned Bridal Chapel hundreds of years ago. Little spelunkers and archaeologists enjoy selecting souvenir fossils, rocks, and minerals from around the world at the park’s shop, Thunder Mountain Mining Company. Many take-home treasures are less than $6.
