Buffalo Trace Distillery

Named for an ancient buffalo river crossing, Buffalo Trace has been a successful distillery for more than two centuries and has the awards and National Historic Landmark status to prove it. Free hour-long Trace Tours (no reservations needed) talk you through the bourbon-making process. They also take you into a centuries-old brick warehouse, fragrant from white-oak, charred-interior barrels full of aging bourbon, some of which you’ll taste. More in-depth hour-long tours (free, reservations required) focus on the distillery’s history—or its ghosts.
