Canadian Museum of Civilization

One of the world's largest natural history museums with over one million square feet, the CMC features permanent exhibitions on four levels. On the first floor, the Grand Hall reproduces a Pacific coast fishing village complete with storytelling and demonstrations (and 11 authentic totem poles) and the First Peoples Hall celebrates the contributions and diversity of Native Canadians. The second floor houses the Canadian Postal Museum and the Canadian Children's Museum. On the third floor, Canada Hall offers recreations of historical buildings and environments dating back to A.D. 1000. The fourth floor houses the latest addition to the museum, Face to Face: The Canadian Personalities Hall. Special exhibits and large-format films in the IMAX theater are featured year-round. The museum is open daily 9 AM to 5 PM (till 6 PM in summer); extended hours are offered on Thursdays and summertime Fridays.
