Core Sound Waterfowl Museum & Heritage Center
Description
Founded by the Core Sound Decoy Carvers Guild, today the Core Sound Waterfowl Museum & Heritage Center celebrates decoy carvers, boat builders, model boat makers and rich community histories. Here, Down East villages maintain their own ever-changing exhibits. The museum’s mission includes documenting living traditions of commercial fishing, traditional music, waterfowling and boatbuilding. Galleries include works of local artists. Throughout the year, residents continue to gather memories and tell stories. December’s Waterfowl Weekend is a major North Carolina event. Open year-round, Monday-Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday, 2 to 5 p.m.
