Crooked River Lighthouse

The Crooked River Lighthouse was erected in 1895 on Dog Island to replace the original light, authorities later decided it would be safer to move the lighthouse to its current site on the mainland. The lens was built in 1894 by Henri La Paute in Paris. Although the lighthouse is no longer in active service, the Carrabelle Lighthouse Association has restored the structure and acquired adjacent land for a public park, where two lightkeepers' houses once stood. The Keeper's House Museum and Gift Shop is open Thursday through Sunday, and weather permitting, you can climb the Crooked River Lighthouse on Saturdays and Sundays.
