Day the Music Died Monument

Description

In a lone soybean field stands the "Day the Music Died" Monument, a stainless steel guitar marking the crash site where rock-and-roll legends Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and J.P. "The Big Bopper" Richardson died in a plane crash on February 3, 1959. The monument's name comes from the lyrics of Don McLean's hit "American Pie," a tribute to Buddy Holly.
