Desoto House Hotel

Abraham Lincoln once spoke from a balcony at this 55-room property, the state’s oldest operating hotel. Ulysses S. Grant used it as headquarters for his presidential campaign. Samuel Clemens, Susan B. Anthony, and Theodore Roosevelt were other notable guests. Today, modern rooms with Victorian styling solidify the hotel’s historic place on Galena’s main street.
