Donner Memorial State Park

Description

Located in the Sierra Nevada, south of Donner Lake, this park features Scallenberger Ridge, the Emigrant Trail Museum, and the Pioneer Monument. In addition, visitors have the opportunity to hike, picnic, camp, and go boating, fishing, or water-skiing. This is where the famous Donner Party camped in harsh conditions from 1846-47, a story which is told in the museum. Call the park for current hours before planning your visit.
