Fredericton Region Museum

Description

Visitors enjoy permanent and changing exhibits of military and domestic area history interspersed with seasonal exhibitions of history, New Brunswick crafts, and fine arts. Last but not least, don't miss the mounted 42-pound Coleman frog. While in Officers' Square, see the changing of the guard ceremonies and band concerts Thursday evenings in the summer. Also see the Old Officers' Quarters, which features typical architecture of the Royal Engineers in the Colonial Period: stone arches, iron handrails, and stone staircase. Note the thick walls of solid masonry and hand-hewn timbers in the older section, dating to 1839-40. By 1850, different construction materials resulted in much thinner walls. Museum hours vary by season. An admission fee is charged.
