Gilcrease Museum

Description

This museum houses art and artifacts of America from the 17th through 20th centuries. Many visitors come to see the vast collection of Western frontier materials, which includes paintings by such notable artists as George Catlin, Thomas Moran, Charles Russell, and Albert Bierstadt. The museum has over 100,000 documents and more than a quarter of a million artifacts, many of them Native American, as well as a large permanent collection from the Hispanic cultures of the Western Hemisphere. Free tours are given daily.On the grounds, the 23 acres of the Gilcrease Gardens reflect gardening styles and techniques from five time periods in the American West.
