Golden Gate Park

Description

In the heart of San Francisco, the 1,017-acre Golden Gate Park boasts hundreds of miles of running trails, the Strybing Arboretum Botanical Garden, a Japanese tea garden, the Conservatory of Flowers, two world-class museums, windmills, and lakes.

While many visitors flock to museums—California Academy of Sciences and the M.H. de Young Memorial Museum—others explore the AIDS Memorial Grove paths or the Koret Children’s Corner with its historic carousel and massive slides. You can also paddle-boat on Stow Lake, join the Hippie Hill drum circle near Haight-Ashbury, enjoy house-brewed beer and thick mac and cheese at Park Chalet, or wave hello to the bison herd by Ocean Beach, here since 1891.
