Great Smoky Arts & Crafts Community

Description

The Great Smoky Arts and Crafts Community, located just east of Gatlinburg near the Greenbrier entrance of Great Smoky National Park, is comprised of the shops, studios, and galleries of dozens of artists and craftspeople. A country road lined by shops and homes serves as the main artery of the community in which artisans sell their crafts and works of art and in some cases allow you to see the workplaces where their creations were made. The "Arts and Crafts Trolley" makes a routine circuit of the road and you can get off anywhere and browse the tree-fronted houses and shops. In many cases you will be able to see the craftspeople as they work and you will be able to ask them questions. The Buckhorn Inn, built in 1938, sits at one end of the community and offers rooms, cottages, and even houses for rental. There you'll find fine dining and a nature trail on 35 acres of pristine woodland. It serves as an excellent base for your exploration of this nationally known artists' community.
