Hamlin Garland Homestead

Description

West Salem's Hamlin Garland Homestead preserves this small town's past and that of its former residents in each corridor, and with it a unique exploratory experience. Named after the American author, this was Garland's residence and the location where he wrote many of his works. Today it's preserved by the West Salem Historical Society, who worked to restore the interior to its turn-of-the-century state. Many of the items inside actually belonged to the Garland family. Tours are available by request.
