Hampton Plantation State Historic Site

Hampton Plantation State Historic Site, once a sprawling rice plantation, covers 274 acres. Its restored 18th-century mansion was the ancestral home of South Carolina poet laureate Archibald Rutledge. Today visitors can explore the mansion and wander the grounds graced by huge oak trees, camellia gardens, and archaeological sites.
