Hells Canyon National Recreation Area

Description

The Hells Canyon National Recreation Area was designated by congress in 1975 to preserve the uniqueness of the area while providing for recreation and enjoyment. It encompasses 652,488 acres and straddles the Snake River, with portions in Oregon and Idaho. This is vast and wild country, as rugged as it is beautiful. Hike, camp, ride horses, raft or jetboat into the heart of the canyon or take a side trip to the Hat Point Lookout to view the magnificent scenery.
