Hermann J. Wiemer Vineyard

In 1976, German vintner Hermann J. Wiemer introduced the Riesling and Chardonnay varietals that helped put Finger Lakes wine-making on the map. He was convinced that his vinifera vine plantings would, despite harsh winters, thrive on Seneca Lake’s western shores. He was right. Today, this vineyard is regarded as one of the region’s best: in 2014 and 2015, it made the Wine & Spirits list of the world’s Top 100 Wineries. The tasting room serves up to five samples for $5.
