Heyward Washington House
Description
George Washington did indeed sleep here in Charleston, in 1791 when he stayed in the Heyward Washington House. This handsome brick building, dating from 1772, is now a historic house museum and National Historic Landmark. Tours reveal a magnificent collection of Charleston-made furniture and a formal garden with plants familiar to Charlestonians in the late 18th century.
