Historic Grooms Tavern

Grooms Tavern, built c. 1820, has served as the center of activity in Clifton Park for generations. The structure has been home to a general store, a stop-over place along major regional transportation arteries, a tavern, and a public meeting place...actually serving as the site of the first Town Board meeting back in the spring of 1828. Purchased from private owners by the town in late 1999, the building was in a state of disrepair. Today it houses a community meeting room, a restored general store, and parlor in which local residents have loaned historic items.
