Hull Rust Mahoning Iron Mine

Description

Part of the Mesabi Iron Range near Hibbing, Minnesota, the Hull Rust Mahoning is the world's largest open pit iron mine. The mine stretches for more than three miles in length, is two miles wide, and is 600 feet deep. Because of its size, it is often referred to as the "Grand Canyon of the North." The mine sends ore to Lake Superior where it is shipped to worldwide destinations.
