Irvington Historic District


Irvington is both a National Register and locally protected Historic District rich with culture and history. This residential and commerical neighborhood is bisected by the National Road and was once an inter-urban line stop from Indianapolis. Irvington contains a diverse variety of architecture, shops, restaurants and historic sites, including the Bonna Thompson Center, which is now home to the Irvington Historical Society, and the Irving Theatre, located on the National Road. Landscape architect, George Kessler, planned the areas landscape, most of which remains today as a unique feature of this historic destination along the Road.
