Joshua L. Chamberlain Civil War Museum

Description

Located in Brunswick, Maine and now open to the public, the Joshua L. Chamberlain Civil War Museum was once home to an American Civil War general, a Bowdoin College president, and the governor of Maine -- Governor Joshua L. Chamberlain. In summer and fall months, visitors can take guided tours of the historical museum. There are several notable rooms throughout the house, including the Longfellow Parlor and the Formal Parlor. Special artifacts include the boots Chamberlain wore at the Battle of Gettysburg and a ceremonial governor's chair.
