Kentucky Derby Museum

Gate 1 of the stately Churchill Downs is the perfect place for this museum. First-floor exhibits focus on the race itself, with displays that both entertain and engage. You can hear first-hand accounts of race fans, see how best to enjoy the Derby as a spectator, learn about the art of “calling” (announcing) the race, and watch historical race footage. Second-floor displays highlight owners, jockeys, and horse breeding.

Admission includes a walking tour of Churchill Downs. Spring through fall also see the Barn and Backside Van Tour and/or the Inside the Gates Tour. Combo tickets are available, so, if you have a full day, you can do all three tours, visit the museum, have lunch in the Derby Café, and shop in the gift store.
