Lacassine Wildlife Drive/Lacassine Pool
Description
Lacassine National Wildlife Refuge is home to great bass fishing in an impoundment known as “The Pool.” “Florida bass” weighing in excess of 10 pounds are caught here regularly. This pool is home to 800,000 wintering ducks and geese, and occasional sightings of Bald Eagles. One of Louisiana’s only nesting colonies of the stunning roseate spoonbill is found here as well as the largest tracts of cypress swamp to be found along the Creole Nature Trail. The pool also features a wildlife observation drive and public boat launches.
