Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area

Description

At almost a mile long, Grand Coulee Dam is one of the largest concrete structures in the world. The monstrosity took 9,000 men to build from 1932 to 1941 and formed Roosevelt Lake. The recreation area consists of the surrounding grassy hills and pine woodlands that provide a magnificent view of the dam, lake, and town. In the summer a nightly laser-light show takes place at sundown and is free to onlookers.
