Liberty Hall

When statesman John Brown began building his estate in 1796, Thomas Jefferson wrote to him with design tips. Today, it’s considered one of the country’s finest examples of Federal architecture. On the 75-minute guided tours, you’ll learn about the Brown family and the many dignitaries they hosted, early 19th century life, and state history. You’ll also hear about the Gray Lady, the spirit that reportedly haunts the estate. The gift shop has a well-curated inventory—from garden accessories and holiday ornaments to doll dresses and Kentucky cookbooks.
