Lucy Maud Montgomery 's Birthplace


Lucy Maud Montgomery, author of "Anne of Green Gables," was born in Clifton (now New London), Prince Edward Island. After visiting the home that inspired "Green Gables," with a tour that focuses on the historical significance of the author and the house, a stop at the author's birthplace is nearby. Lucy Maud was born at her New London house on November 30th, 1874 in the upstairs bedroom. Growing up on Prince Edward Island influenced her upbringing and surely her creative inspiration.
