Malabar Farm State Park

Description

Malabar Farm was the dream of the Pulitzer Prize-winning author and conservationist Louis Bromfield. This beautiful park is graced with fields of corn and wheat, barnyard animals, scenic trails, and the 32-room country home where Bromfield entertained family and celebrity friends. Guided tours of the home are available year-round. Activities such as hiking, horseback riding, farm-pond fishing, cross-country skiing and primitive camping are available, as is a youth hostel. The historic Malabar Farm Restaurant, a restored stagecoach stop dating from the 1820s, offers meals from May through October. Pets: Leashed pets are permitted in the park and campgrounds (two per campsite) but not in lodges or cottages. Reservations and restrictions: Ohio's camping reservation number is 866-644-6727. Reservations are not required. A non-refundable reservation fee of $8 is charged. Group camping reservations may be made by calling the individual parks. Ohio enforces an alcohol ban in all of its state parks.
