Mont-Royal Park

Description

For stunning views of the city, visit Mont-Royal Park and climb the mountain to the observatory. This is a great way to get your bearings in Montreal. The park itself is the largest green space in the city and great for bird watching. Footpaths and bike trails are popular and well maintained. Tam-tam gatherings -- informal drum and percussion fests -- take place on Sunday afternoons in the summertime near the Cartier monument on Park Avenue. The park is open 24 hours a day. You can reach the base of the mountain by taking the metro to the Mont-Royal Station, then the #11 bus. If you drive, take Cote-des-Neiges and Voie Camillien-Houde Drive.
