Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge

Description

This 7,068-acre wetlands area occupies a prime location on one of the busiest flight lanes in the Atlantic Flyway. Hundreds of birds -- including Canada geese, herons, and songbirds -- take rest here during their spring and fall migrations. At other times of year, whitetail deer, muskrats, foxes, and more can be seen from the refuge's observation towers, foot trails, and auto trails. A visitors center, environmental study area, hunting, and fishing are available. It's located in the Finger Lakes region at the northern end of Cayuga Lake.
