Mount Robson Provincial Park

Description

Known as the Monarch of the Canadian Rockies, this park features spectacular scenery and exciting recreation in mountainous and heavily-forested regions. Mount Robson, a towering 12,972 feet, is the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies. Among the park's rugged trails is one that leads to Berg Lake, through the Valley of the Thousand Falls, and a rain forest. Hiking trails range from moderate to very challenging, but in all cases will reward your effort with scenic vistas. Canoeing and rafting on the Fraser River are also big draws. You can also enjoy viewing the wildlife and waterfowl, boating, fishing, and camping. Handicapped-accessible sites are available. Backcountry tent camping is permitted on the Berg Lake Trail. Reservations are highly recommended for all campsites. At a nearby park, visitors can see the several hundred Chinook salmon who swim this far inland at the end of summer. The park is open year-round, but campgrounds are open only from May to October, depending on the weather. Call the park for the specific dates. Leashed pets are permitted. British Columbia has a central reservation phone number for all provincial park campgrounds: 800-689-9025. There is a nonrefundable fee over and above any campsite fees for each reservation made. The maximum stay is 14 nights.
