Museum of Science and Industry

Description

One of the world's premier science museums, the Museum of Science and Industry is filled with hundreds of hands-on interactive exhibits for children, families, and adults of all ages. Always one of the museum's most popular stops, the U-505 submarine has been given pride of place in its own 35,000-square-foot exhibit space complete with interactive features, artifacts, and a dramatic recreation of the sub's history. Visitors can catch a glimpse of the future in the virtual reality lab in the award-winning "Imaging: Tools of Science" exhibit, climb aboard a real Boeing 727 airplane cantilevered from the museum's balcony, and learn about the science behind the headlines of HIV/AIDS in the permanent exhibit "AIDS: The War Within". Visitors will also find favorites such as the Coal Mine, Colleen Moore's Fairy Castle, the 16-foot-tall Walk-Through Heart, Yesterday's Main Street, Body Slices, the Silver Streak train, the Henry Crown Space Center, and the Omnimax Theater.
