Mystic Seaport

At this spectacular maritime museum, you’ll experience 19th-century seafaring life in a re-created village, with period-furnished residences and businesses, and through exhibits of art, ship models, and maritime artifacts. There’s also a preservation shipyard, where craftsmen use traditional skills to restore and maintain historic ships, some of which you can climb—or even sail—aboard. Check the calendar. The Seaport hosts many ongoing and seasonal events; some, like the holiday Lantern Light Tours, are especially popular.
