National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium

Description

This massive museum complex lets you fully explore the Mississippi River as it wends from Minnesota to Louisiana. Follow along as naturalists guide you through various types of river flora and fauna in the Woodward Nature Wetland Trail exhibit.

Learn about paddle-wheelers and other craft in the Fred W. Woodward Riverboat Museum and the Pfohl Family Boatyard, where hands-on activities include virtually navigating a barge using a pilot’s wheel, much like the one emblazoned on Great River Road signposts. See exotic marine life in Rivers to the Sea aquariums; tour a dredge boat; or sit a spell on a bench sculpture that includes Samuel Clemens, who appears to be contemplating the Mississippi.
