Proctor's Theatre

Proctors is a cultural anchor at the western end of the Mohawk Towpath Byway. Designed by Thomas W. Lamb, the movie palace opened in 1926 as a vaudeville and movie theatre. In 1978 the 2700-seat venue was saved from the wrecking ball and restored. Today Proctors hosts major Broadway shows, concerts and films. The Mohawk Towpath Byway’s visitor center is housed on the arcade on the ground floor across from the Box Office. The visitor center has a preview of what to see along the Byway as well as information on Schenectady’s several heritage areas.
