Rokeby Museum

Description

About half an hour outside Burlington lies the Rokeby Museum, a former Quaker farm and well-documented stop on the Underground Railroad. Visitors can take a guided tour of the house where fugitive slaves were once welcomed, or stroll the grounds on their own to see the smokehouse, creamery, and other outbuildings. The family that lived here for four generations was a frugal one, meaning that the farm contains a wealth of period furniture, household items, clothing, books, and more. The museum is open mid-May to mid-October, and three guided tours a day are offered Thursday-Sunday.
