Description

As the traveler passes along Aqueduct Road, Niskayuna you see a more rural area that recalls our agricultural heritage. A century ago this area was agricultural and the Canal provided transportation for raw materials and agricultural products to manufacturing centers and manufactured goods back to the agricultural areas on the return trips. These rural areas fed the Industrial Revolution and the westward expansion of the country. In turn the industrial centers provided machinery to take some of the drudgery out of farming.
