Science Museum of Minnesota

The first floor of this science complex has a Mississippi River Visitor Center manned by rangers, who share plenty of info about Big Muddy, which is right outside the door. If the five permanent galleries of interactive exhibits don’t entice you to stick around and explore, the hum from the world’s largest seismograph strung through the atrium will. You can also learn by playing in the Big Back Yard, where a nine-hole miniature golf course is themed to showcase the river’s biodiversity.
