Skenesborough Museum

Description

Nestled in a valley at the head of Lake Champlain is Whitehall, Birthplace of the US Navy. In 1776, thirteen ships were built in Skenesbourgh Harbor for the defense of Fort Ticonderoga. Visit the Skenesborough Museum and Heritage Area Visitor’s Center and see the sixteen-foot diorama with light and sound show that describes the settlement of Skenesborough, and learn how it earned the title “Birthplace of the US Navy.”
