Split Rock Lighthouse State Park

Split Rock Lighthouse State Park provides an impressive view of Lake Superior. The lighthouse foghorn blasts signals that can be heard for five miles, and visitors can climb to the top of Split Rock Lighthouse to see the original Fresnel lens. The Gitchi-Gami State Trail for hiking, biking or inline skating passes through the park. The drop from the observation area at the lighthouse to the water is 130 feet. A history center features an award-winning film, exhibits on Lake Superior navigation and shipwrecks, commercial fishing and North Shore tourism, and a museum store. Other activities include picnicking, swimming, and fishing. Cart-in campsites offer spectacular views of Lake Superior. Handicapped accessible showers and bathroom facilities are available. Enjoy cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in the winter. Tours of Split Rock Lighthouse are available for a separate nominal charge from May 15 to October 15. Call 218-226-6372 for more information.
