St. George Island State Park

Secluded St. George Island State Park, at the far eastern end of 28-mile-long St. George Island, offers nine miles of pristine white-sand beaches and dunes, along with hiking trials, boardwalks, and observation platforms for bird watching. On the beach side, loggerhead and green sea turtles lumber ashore to lay eggs every summer. But don't be fooled by the remote-sounding shores; sunbathers often crowd the beaches on summer days. Late fall through early spring is the best time for bird-watching peace and quiet.
