St. Joseph's Oratory

On the northwest side of Mont Royal is a Catholic shrine. The original chapel was built in 1904 by Brother Andre, and dedicated to St. Joseph, Canada's patron saint. Brother Andre is credited with a number of miracles and was beatified in 1982. Today an enormous domed church stands on the spot. It is still a pilgrimage site for those seeking miraculous cures. Displays in the church include thousands of crutches discarded by pilgrims who were healed here.
