State Botanical Garden of Georgia

Description

Free fun in Athens can be found at this forest and garden preserve covering over 300 hundred acres on the banks of the lovely Middle Oconee River. You'll find five miles of nature trails winding through 11 different botanical collections. Check out the Heritage Garden for plants that are a part of Georgia's history. The International Garden offers insight into the importance of plants in world cultures, medicine, and exploration. The gardens are open daily from 8 AM to 8 PM April to September, and 8 AM to 6 PM October to March. The visitors center hours are 9 AM to 4:30 PM Tuesday to Saturday, and Sunday 11:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
