Sutter's Fort State Historic Park

Description

Swiss immigrant John Sutter's 1839 settlement became a major stopping point for those coming to California. This was the first European settlement in the Sacramento area. There are exhibits representing pre-Gold Rush California including a blacksmith shop, hearth kitchen, carpentry shop, and blanket factory.
