Timberline Lodge

Description

Billed "a magnificent ski lodge and mountain retreat for all," the Timberline Lodge at Mt. Hood draws countless visitors annually. A National Historic Landmark since 1977, it was constructed completely by hand on Oregon's tallest mountain in the midst of the Great Depression in only 15 months. President Franklin Roosevelt dedicated the structure in 1937.Today, activities include free guided tours and nature walks, skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, hiking, biking, and year-roun chairlift rides for great mountain views. There are also plenty of dining and shopping opportunities, including the chance to browse at a farmer's market.
