Twin Lakes, Colorado


Near the foot of Colorado's highest mountain, Mt. Elbert, about 23 miles southwest of Leadville and 38 miles from Aspen, a popular summer vacation destination was built in the 1860’s attracting the well-to-do with spectacular scenery and the states largest glaciated lake. Twin Lakes, an important tourist attraction as early as 1860’s was deemed to be “...the most charming summer resort in Colorado.” Today, Twin Lakes is still a popular destination for fishing, hiking, camping, snowshoeing, snowmobiling and ice fishing.
